A few days ago, Nintendo announced that Mario Sports Superstars would be released on March 30th in Japan. Then a few days later, Nintendo of America announced that the game would be released one week earlier in North America, on March 24th. Only Europe was left without a release date, which was announced today…
And it turns out that Mario Sports Superstars will be released in Europe two weeks before North America, on March 10th. Nintendo confirms that the series of amiibo cards will also be launched on the same day in Europe, and that the retail version of the game would come with a random card.
Nintendo also uploaded a new trailer, that introduces Baseball. It confirms that the following characters are playable:
- Baby Mario
- Baby Luigi
- Diddy Kong
- Bowser Jr.
- Donkey Kong
- at least two secret characters
Naturally, all the characters have their own Abilities, but also stats. For example, Mario and Luigi are said to be “Balanced”, with the likes of Bowser and Donkey Kong most likely being in the “Power” category.
The following characters can also be seen in the trailer (but it’s not clear whether they are available in all sports):
- Shy Guy
- and more…
What’s more, it looks like characters can wear special costumes when there’s several of them on the field, as seen with Toad in the trailer below.
In Baseball, you have to chose a Captain, a Vice-Captain, and 7 team mates. To win, you can use powerful techniques to strike out batters (when pitching) and knock it out of the park when batting.
Here’s the trailer for Baseball in Mario Sports Superstars:
