Mario Party: The Top 100 – Latest trailer, details about the game modes and amiibo features

Yesterday, Nintendo of America shared a new trailer for Mario Party: The Top 100, the latest game in the Mario Party series that features the Top 100 best minigames. That trailer goes over the various game modes, but also the various amiibo features.

First, we have Minigame Island. In this mode, you unlock minigames to play with friends (with up to 4 players). You can sort the minigames to play using the following sorting options:

• Battle Type
• Mario Party Series
• Genre
• FAVORITE

Decathlon is the game mode for players looking for some competition. You play through a set of 5 or 10 minigames, earning points with each one. It’s the players with the most points at the end who wins.

Minigame Match is a mode that sees all players compete in order to win the most stars. To earn stars, you need to collect coins, with 10 coins giving you 1 star. Naturally, it’s the players with the most stars at the end who wins. In this mode, there’s various packs of minigames to choose from: Nintendo 64, GameCube, Wii, battle, driving, sports, etc..

Finally, there’s Championship Battle: a tournament of minigames. You can choose to go either with Best of 3 or Best of 5.

If you don’t have enough copies of the games, there’s nothing to worry about: Mario Party: The Top 100 is compatible with Download Play, allowing up to 4 players to play with just one copy of the game (but one console per player, obviously).

If you have amiibo, you can use them to access the following features:

• in Minigame Island, when you reach an amiibo space, you can tap a compatible amiibo to get 10 coins. If you find a Gooma or Koopa on that space, you can tap their amiibo to get 50 coins instead. Also, if you run out of lives, you can tap an amiibo in order to get one extra life… but just once!
• on the Minigame pack selection screen, tapping a compatible amiibo gives you access to the Gooma or Koopa packs.

Mario Party: The Top 100 (3DS) comes out on November 10th in North America, December 28th in Japan, and January in Europe.
