Luigi’s Mansion (3DS) releasing on October 12th in North America

Earlier today, Nintendo announced that Luigi’s Mansion on Nintendo 3DS will be released on October 19th in Europe, just in time for Halloween. We thought that we would have to wait for the next Nintendo Direct before getting the release date for North America and Japan, but we won’t have to wait for anything… at least for the former.

Nintendo has announced that Luigi’s Mansion will be released on October 12th in North America, just one week before Europe, and will cost $39.99. In other words, there will not be a simultaneous release for this game, which means the Japanese release may not be on either October 12th or October 19th (for starters, it will most likely be on a Thursday, which was the regular release day for Nintendo games before Nintendo switched to Fridays for worldwide releases).

As mentioned previously, Luigi’s Mansion on Nintendo 3DS offers the same classic adventure as the original, but with additional features such as a map on the bottom screen, but also the Gallery Battle Mode (where you can re-challenge boss ghosts defeated in the game).

Luigi is back in the first portable version of this spooky classic. After winning a mansion in a contest he didn’t enter, Luigi must beat its many bosses and puzzles. Follow a map on the touchscreen, shine a flashlight, blow fire, shoot water, stun ghosts, and trap them…before Mario is trapped forever!

  • Save Mario for a change: overcome ghastly ghosts, mind-melting puzzles, and Luigi’s own clumsiness
  • Challenge bosses to rematches and see if you can up your score in the new Gallery Battle Mode
  • Survey the mansion map, track down ghostly Boos, and pinpoint ghosts’ weak points with the Game Boy Horror
  • Elemental medals enable the Poltergust 3000 to blow fire or shoot water to beat puzzles and ghosts

Finally, here’s some screenshots:

Luigi’s Mansion (3DS) comes out on October 12th in North America, October 19th in Europe, and later this year in Japan. The Upcoming Games page has been updated!
