JP News (Jan. 10): Shin Megami Tensei 25th Anniversary / RPG Maker Fes DLC

Today’s Japanese news: a special website for the 25th Anniversary of the Shin Megami Tensei series, but also…

  • RPG Maker FES
  • SEGA 3D Classics Collection 3: Final Stage
  • Yo-kai Watch
  • Ace Attorney

Shin Megami Tensei 25th Anniversary

The very first Shin Megami Tensei game was released on October 30, 1992 (on the SNES), which means that the series is celebrating its 25th Anniversary this year. Naturally, Atlus has some surprises in store for that Anniversary, though it’s not clear what those consist of for now (no doubt there’s at least one game in the works, possibly a remake of some sort).

For now, all we have is a teaser website, which is as empty as teaser websites get. Since it’s called “Shin Megami Tensei 25th Anniversary Projects”, it means Atlus has more than one surprise in store for that anniversary. Hopefully we will get some news really soon… maybe in this week’s issue of Famitsu magazine?

RPG Maker FES

Today, some new DLC for RPG Maker Fes went live. This time, there’s only DLC pack, which includes some character illustrations and chibi character models (each one with 4 different colours), designed by Kazushi Hagiwara.

Here’s what they look like:

And at the end of the month, Kadokawa will also release Tsukumon Quest, a game created by Kazushi Hagiwara himself, which will be available for download inside RPG Maker Fes (Player?).

SEGA 3D Classics Collection 3: Final Stage

Today, SEGA released some wallpapers for smartphones featuring artworks from SEGA 3D Classics Collection 3: Final Stage, and more precisely:

  • Turbo Outrun
  • Thunder Force III
  • Alien Syndrome
  • Columns
  • Champion Boxing
  • Girl’s Garden

Here’s what the wallapers look like:

You can get them from the official website!

Yo-kai Watch

In Japan, many Pokémon Centers can be found: no, they’re not actual Pokémon Centers where you can get treatment for your Pokémon, just official stores where fans can purchase various Pokémon-related goodies (including many that can only be found there). Wondering if there’s similar stores for the Yo-kai Watch series? The answer is yes!

In fact, today, it was announced that a Yoroz Mart would open on March 9th in Japan. It will be located at the second floor of the LaLaport Koshien mall/shopping center. There, many goodies and merchandise based on the Yo-kai Watch franchise will be available for purchase.

This is not the first official store for the Yo-kai Watch series, but it is the first one to open in the Kansai region. It’s also the biggest one to date, and a “permanent” one to boot (unlike previous stores, which only remained open for a limited time).

Here’s what it will look like:

Ace Attorney

For the 15th Anniversary of the Ace Attorney series, Capcom has several events in store. One of them is an actual store, that will be open from January 25th to February 12th at the 6th floor of the Shinjuku Marui Annex.
