Today, Media Create released its weekly report for video game sales in Japan, providing us with more sales data for Week 45. During that week, Hardware sales topped 139 000 units, which is 182.30% of Week 44 sales: a massive increase quite obviously attributed to the PlayStation 4 Pro, as the increase for Nintendo platforms was quite limited.

Media Create notes that the Nintendo Classic Mini: Family Computer sold over 261 000 units. It looks like many of the people who bought it usually do not buy games, and there were many buyers who played the actual Famicom when they were younger, but it doesn’t look like this had any impact on the sales of other games.

As for Software, total sales topped 487 000 units, which is 95.86% of Week 44 sales.

So far, for the current Fiscal Year, Hardware sales have dropped to 2.26 million units (-10.3% compared to the same period last year). The main culprits are the Nintendo 3DS and the Wii U, with 800 000 units (-12.9%) and 150 000 units (-61.8%) respectively. In fact, only the PlayStation 4 saw its sales increase compared to last year.
