Japan: more sales data for Week 43 2019, October 2019 (Media Create, Dengeki)

Media Create – Day 1 Sell-through (Week 44)

This week, we have the Day 1 sell-through for a couple of Nintendo Switch titles (games and platforms are listed from best-selling to worst-selling):

  • [NSW] Luigi’s Mansion 3 <ACT> (Nintendo) (¥5.980) – 50%. Pretty good debut, especially as sales for this kind of games are stronger during the weekend;
  • [PS4] [NSW] Disgaea 4 Complete+ <SLG> (Nippon Ichi Software) (¥4.980) – 10%. A poor debut.

Dengeki (Week 43)

Dengeki report that the retail release of the latest expansion for Dragon Quest X sold about 35 000 units at launch, with 22 585 units on Nintendo Switch alone. Unfortunately, the Switch wasn’t the leading platform for Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night; it sold about 19 000 units at launch, with 7 115 units on Nintendo’s console.

As for Ring Fit Adventure, it sold 69 000 additional units, which is a nice performance for a second week. This brings total sales to 136 000 units. As for Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town, it sold 19 000 units during its second week, bringing total sales to 83 000 units.

Finally, only the Nintendo Switch version of Dusk Diver managed to chart, with a measly 850 units sold.

This week, Dengeki also share some data for October. Unfortunately, it wasn’t that great a month:

  • Hardware: 330 000 units (+11.5%) / 9.1 billion Yen (-0.3%), due to the lower price of the Nintendo Switch Lite
  • Software: 1.42 million units (-20.2%) / 9.4 billion Yen (-12.5%)
  • Total: 18.5 billion Yen (-12.5%)

The Nintendo Switch crushed the competition:

  • Hardware: 84% market share (7.6 billion Yen)
  • Software: 61.7% market share (5.8 billion Yen)

  1. [NSW] Ring Fit Adventure (Nintendo): 136 000 units
  2. [NSW] Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age – Definitive Edition (Square-Enix): 115 000 units
