Japan: more sales data for Week 43 2018, October 2018 (Media Create, Dengeki)

Here’s the latest sales data reports from Media Create, and Dengeki!

Media Create (Week 43)

Today, Media Create shared their weekly report on video games sales in Japan. It reveals that Software sales topped 420 000 units, which is 118.84% of Week 42 sales. Since there was quite a lot of new releases, with one selling over 100 000 units, it’s no wonder that sales of new games increased dramatically: they account for 310.99% of Week 42 sales after all. They sold about 117 000 units more than during the previous week, which helped compensate for the drop in previously released games (about -50 000 units drop this week).

Dengeki (Week 43, October 2018)

Dengeki report that Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection International sold about 20 000 units during its launch week, on the two platforms it was released on (Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4). As for BeyBlade Burst Battle Zero, its sales are not any better than those reported by Media Createl only 6 000 units sold… Meanwhile, Super Mario Party keeps on selling steadily, with 32 000 additional units this week (bringing the total since launch to over 275 000 units).

And this week, Dengeki also share some data about October (and more precisely the period going from October 1st to October 28th (so 4 weeks in total):

Hardware: 300 000 units (-30.7%) / 9.1 billion Yen (-25.8%)
Software: 1.78 million units (-12.9%) / 12 billion Yen (-5.9%)
Total: 21.1 billion Yen (-15.6%)

It’s the 4th month in a row that the market as a whole is down (since July, basically), and it is still in a pretty bad shape. Fortunately, things should start improving from November onwards, with the release of major titles.
