Japan Expo: Eiji Aonuma to hold a master class about the Zelda series, Mario & Rabbids presentation

Japan Expo is by far the biggest event related to Japanese culture in Europe, and every year, Nintendo has a strong presence there. Not only are the latest game playable on its booth, but the company also offers various events such as a Squid Sisters concert last year, or a Master Class about the Super Mario series with Shigeru Miyamoto.

And naturally, this year will be no exception. We already know that the latest Pokémon movie will premier at the Japan Expo (though that’s not exactly a Nintendo thing), but today, two more events were announced.

The first one is about a mysterious game called Mario & Rabbids Kingdom Battle, supposedly in development at Ubisoft. We know absolutely nothing about it (seriously), though it would be a different story if we had reliable leakers to shed some light on this totally impossible cross-over. It looks like whatever that game is, it will get an exclusive showcase at the Japan Expo.

The second one is a Master Class about the Legend of Zelda series, with some pretty illustrious guests:

  • Eiji Aonuma, producer of the Legend of Zelda series
  • Yusuke Nakano (Senior Specialist at Nintendo, who worked on The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and more precisely the “Battle with Ganon” illustrations)
  • Satoru Takizawa (Senior Specialist and Art Director for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild)

Nintendo is also hosting a fan art contest for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, with the winning entries to be selected by Eiji Aonuma, Yusuke Nakano, Satoru Takizawa) during the Master Class. More details will be shared at a later date.

The Master Class about The Legend of Zelda will be held at the Scène Ichigô, in Hall B5, at 12.30PM (local time) on July 7th. As usual, the Master Class should not be livestreamed, but Nintendo should have a video ready in the following days.

The Japan Expo is taking place from July 6th to July 9th, at the Paris-Nord Villepinte Exhibition Centre.
