Genei Ibun Roku #FE: more details about the Side Stories

Last week, Genei Ibun Roku #FE was showcased in Famitsu magazine, with new details about Side Stories. Some of it was posted on the official website, but not all of it. Fortunately, thanks to Serenes Forest, we now have translations for everything not mentioned on the official website, including some details about various NPCs.

Genei Ibun Roku #FESide Stories

Genei Ibun Roku #FE is divided in two parts: main story (with Mirages from the Idolasphere coming to our world in order to steal a mysterious energy only Mirage Masters can feel) and Side Stories. Those focus on the daily lives of the main characters, their troubles, etc.. Quite obviously, Aoi Itsuki, the protagonist, will have to help them out. By improving as entertainers, the characters will improve their Performa and become even stronger in battle.

During battle, if you trigger a Session Attack (a chain attack, basically), the stage rank of the character who triggered it will increase. As their rank increase, the characters are faced with challenges to overcome, and that’s how the side stories are born. Each time you complete one, your characters become stronger and learn new abilities.

Famitsu gives an example: a quest called “Princess of Horror”, involving Eleonora. She’s supposed to have a role in a horror play at school, but she’s absolutely terrified of anything scary. Therefore, she asks Aoi Itsuki to help her overcome her fears. First, they start by going on a date to the cinema, in order to watch a scary movie.

However, this doesn’t really work, so instead, the pair goes searching for ghoulish-looking monsters in the Idolasphere. This allows her to discover a new Performa, but also overcome her fears. She then goes and rewrite the play into “Horror Hunter”, which tells the story of a high school girl vanquishing monsters.

As for Tsubasa Oribe, Aoi Itsuki will have to help her becoming a proper idol: hand-shaking events, commercial shoots, solo concerts, and more. Finally, we have Kiria, a popular artist with a secret she cannot share with anyone…

Side characters

There will be quite a lot of side characters in Genei Ibun Roku #FE:

  • Tiki is my waifu (voiced by Asami Seto): a high school girl who composes music using a voice synthetizer. She loves Tiki more than anything.
  • Ayaha Oribe (boiced by Ai Kayano): Tsubasa Oribe’s elder sister, who used to be a renowned and talent idol. She’s now working as secretary at Fortuna Entertainment. She helps Aoi Itsuki and the other characters during the game.
  • Kuen Tarachino (voiced by Kenta Miyake): a drama director with a rather… peculiar fashion sense. He’s quite feared by his production staff, due to his strictness. He has nothing but disdain for the current entertainment and TV industry.
  • Yatsufusa Hatanaka (voiced by Ken Narita): a renowned producer, said to be at the cornerstone of any successful production. In the past, he lost his way in the Idolasphere, which explains why he just keeps looking out for Mirage incidents nowadays.
  • Riku Suzumoto (voiced by Michiko Kaiden): he’s always watching the super hero shows at the top floor of the store department. His meeting with Toma Akagi allows him to change, and stop seeing the world with nothing but despair. He’s the one seen in the video for Side Stories, from last week’s website update.
  • Teru Gojouin (voiced by Hiroaki Shirikawa): a comedian, and the presenter of Tsubasa Oribe’s idol show. He may look like a rather cheerful individual, but he’s actually pretty serious and cowardly.
  • Chouten Sawafuji (voiced by Keiko Manaka): a genius musician, known as “The man with a million promises”. He composed music for idols, who ended up dying sudden and mysterious deaths. He’s currently composing songs for Tsubasa Oribe.
  • Nobu Horinozawa (voiced by Anri Katsu): a gifted cameraman, who is said to be able to capture the purest beauty in any woman. Thanks to his debut with and during Maiko’s gravure days, he immediately shot to the very top of the industry.
  • Mahiro Tsurumi (voiced by Chafurin): the new president of Driver TV, which has a political background (which is why few know of him in the entertainment industry). He has the same air of authority as a person who exprienced many hardships.

Genei Ibun Roku #FE (Wii U) comes out on December 26th in Japan, and next year in Europe and North America.
