Nippon Marathon 2

Onion Soup Interactive have announced a collaboration with Hideaki Kobayashi (the one and only Uncle Sailor), who will appear in Nippon Marathon 2 as special guest.

Here’s a trailer and some details:

Indie dev team, Onion Soup Interactive are happy to announce a collaboration with Hideaki Kobayashi, also known as Uncle Sailor – the infamous gentleman who roams Tokyo wearing a school uniform who also happens to be the inspiration behind Nippon Marathon’s Zenbei character. As part of a new popularity feature, Uncle Sailor (along with other yet-to-be-announced celebs), will give players challenges to complete during the race thereby creating new opportunities to score points or sabotage their friends. The developers want to give the game’s popularity mechanic a Japanese daytime TV show twist.

Between each course, anchorman Abe Watanabe will break down the scoring and popularity of the marathon so far using pie charts and graphs. Celebrities give out challenges before the race and can award bonuses or penalties to players. Make sure to pay close attention to their preferences as that can cost you A LOT OF POPULARITY! For example, a celebrity might say “I want to see a player being chased by 5 shiba inu at once!”. The first player to achieve this will receive a popularity bonus.

Nippon Marathon 2 (Switch – eShop) does not have a release date yet.
