Update: both the demo and update are now available for download! Also, added two screenshots, courtesy of Famitsu.

Last month, Bandai-Namco announced that Dragon Ball Fusions would get a series of free updates, and today, the first one was detailed: it will be released this Fall.

First, there’s a new “stage” that will be added, called “Jikuukan Radar”. Provided wireless communications are enabled on your Nintendo 3DS, the stage will “detect” nearby Wifi networks, and a tear in space-time will open in the stage. Some characters will appear from there, that you will have to battle. It looks like you will be able to befriend some pretty rare characters that way, too.

This first update will also add online play, with several options:

  • online play with random players
  • online play with friends
  • trade (only with friends)
  • online leaderboards

Here’s some screenshots for the update:

But that’s not all: Bandai-Namco also announced that a demo version would be released soon. Only one stage will be available (the Jikuukan Radar stage detailed above), but players will be to recruit characters and create EX Fusions. More details (including the release day) will be revealed at a later date.

Finally, starting next month, Bandai-Namco will air new TV Commercials for Dragon Ball Fusions. They will feature some Japanese celebrities, including Maple Chou Goukin, Yoshio Kojima, and Dandy Sakano. It’s safe to assume the release of the demo version will coincide with the airing of the new TV Commercials.

The first update for Dragon Ball Fusions will be released this Fall in Japan. And in case you missed it, the game itself was recently rated in Brazil (implying a European and North American release is in the works).
