How are you trying to update SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom – Rehydrated, while keeping what fans loved about the original?
It was very important for us to keep the abundance of distinct gameplay moments in Battle for Bikini Bottom, which is still one of the most varied platformers out there. Each level has a distinct look and feel, and often adds some unique gameplay mechanics to support this. You have three playable characters–SpongeBob, Patrick, and Sandy–each with a unique set of skills. Other than that, the biggest challenge was simply to do justice to both one of the greatest animated series ever and arguably the best game based on the franchise.
Since the original game is still very fun to play, we focused on the details that would make it feel like a modern console game. This involved tweaking the camera, the movement, and dialogue animations, and implementing a lot of ease-of-use features, like [including] a modern saving system, for example.

From another dimension, the Old Gods have come. In hospitals, abandoned classrooms, quiet apartments, and dark forests, strange appearances and unexplainable phenomena test the sanity of the town’s residents. Each grotesque foe comes with physical dangers, psychological torment, and a chance of debilitating effects or outright death. Horrors are plentiful as they are unpredictable, with each playthrough unlocking new possible events and encounters for the next attempt. Every mystery harbors multiple endings—for those that can survive that long. The writing talents of critically acclaimed horror novelist Cassandra Khaw compliment the haunting vision of developer panstasz as they bring disturbing sights to literary life. Fuzzy, lo-fi chiptunes and a chilling 1-bit art style drawn entirely in Microsoft Paint evoke the hazy, unsettling nostalgia of late ‘80s computing where imagination, the most terrifying force of all, fills in the gaps.

Clever Endeavour Games have shared some details about the next free Content Update for Ultimate Chicken Horse. It’s called the A-cobra-tic Update, and it will be released on March 12th worldwide.

This free Content Update will add the following (patch notes will be added to this page as soon as they’re available):
- 1 new character: Snake (on a skateboard!)
- 2 new levels: The Ballroom and Space
- 4 new blocks: flamethrower, one-way gate, cannon, and beehive
- PS4 + Nintendo Switch cross-platform play
- a handful of improvements, minor additions to the game, and plenty of bug fixes.
