Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night
Last week, the latest Kickstarter update for Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night went live. This one is a mini-update (with the next one coming tomorrow, on May 1st), mostly about PAX East 2019. It addresses concerns about the Nintendo Switch version, which did run not as well as the developers had intended. Here’s why:
We did have an issue at the show with the Switch version that drew a lot of backer discussion. Due to the way the consoles were kept inside closed containers for the demo, there ended up being a significant overheating issue. This caused the game to drop frames and not run as smoothly as we would have liked. That same build (as well as subsequent ones) is much more stable when the console isn’t overheated. There have also been optimizations since the show to prepare for console submission (an ongoing process).
By the way, here’s the final specs for the game on Nintendo Switch:
- Undocked: 720p (fixed) / 30 fps
- Docked: 720p (dynamic) / 30 fps with additional effects / visuals, etc.

Shakedown Hawaii
Vblank Entertainment have confirmed that Shakedown Hawaii is indeed going to get a physical version, which will be available exclusively via their website at a later date. Unfortunately, it will not be available at launch for several reasons:
- they chose to focus on the PlayStation Vita due to Sony ending cartridge production for that platform
- they want to wait until they have the latest possible version of the game on the cart
- they want to add some extras (which will take time to design and manufacture)
- manufacturing of physical carts takes a fair amount of time
Shakedown Hawaii (Switch – eShop) comes out on May 7th in Europe and North America, with the Nintendo 3DS version to follow at a later date.

Kill la Kill -IF-
PQube have announced that Kill la Kill -IF- will offer not just Japanese and English voices, but also English, French, Italian, Spanish and German subtitles.
Kill la Kill -IF- (Switch) comes out on July 25th in Japan, and July 26th in Europe and North America.
