Daily Briefs (Oct. 12) – Splatoon: official interview (Part 2) / Skylanders

Today’s Daily Briefs: Part 2 of the official interview for Splatoon, but also…

  • Skylanders Academy
  • Disney Magical World 2
  • Gourmet Dream

In order to celebrate the launch of the GO4Splatoon online tournaments, Nintendo of Europe published an interview with Hisashi Nogami (Producer) and Katsuya Eguchi (General Producer). The first part was published last week, and the second part is now available.

In this second part, Hisashi Nogami (Producer) and Katsuya Eguchi (General Producer) talk about whether they originally intended Splatoon to be a third-person shooter, what surprised them the most about Splatoon’s success, what’s next for the Squid Sisters, and more. They also share some advice for players competing in the GO4Splatoon online tournaments.

Here’s an excerpt (from Hisashi Nogami, about the Squid Sisters):

They were just supposed to provide information to the players – we didn’t expect that they would become so popular, frankly! They got their own amiibo and the final Splatfest was themed after them, and all of this was really in response to their popularity among the players. We saw that they were very popular, and so we wanted to make the most of it. So the kind of activities they’ll do in the future will depend a lot on the players, and we’ll respond accordingly to them. But for now, there are no concrete plans.
