[Europe] Splatoon: Go4Splatoon details, grand final winners get a NX console

Back at gamescom, Satoru Shibata announced that Nintendo had partnered with ESL (an e-Sports company), in order to set up official online tournaments for Splatoon. We didn’t get many details back then, but we were promised more for September.

And today, those details were finally revealed! First, we learned that those tournaments are to be called Go4Splatoon. It’s a weekly 4on4 cup series with a monthly final at the end of each month. The winners of the weekly tournaments will get some Splatoon merchandise, along with ranking points.

Those Ranking Point will earn them a better seed in upcoming tournaments, and could even qualify them for a slot in the Monthly Final. The Winner of each monthly tournament will also get some nice Splatoon merchandise! Only the 8 best teams in Europe will get to compete in the monthly finals.

Finally, the winning team of the Grand Final will get… a NX console!

Here’s the planning:

  • 1 cup every Sunday
  • Monthly finals with Merchandise as prize for the winners
  • Sunday: Splatoon Merchandise as prize & Go4Splatoon points

One thing to note about the merchandise is that it’s signed and illustrated by the Splatoon developers. They’re also randomised (with the exception of the Grand Final prize, obviously), so you have no way to know exactly what you will get in advance.

The first weekly tournament will be held on September 11th (Sunday), at 3PM BST / 4PM CEST. You can check-in until 2.30PM BST / 3.30PM CEST. You can find more details about the first weekly tournament on this page!

Here’s the rules for the Go4Splatoon tournaments:

  • Format:
    • Best of Three, Final is Best of Five
    • Game modes:
      • Map 1: Splatzone
      • Map 2: Tower Control
      • Map 3: Rainmaker
  • Map Selection: The higher ranked team has to choose the first map. The loser team of the first map decides about the second map. If needed, the losing team of the second map chooses the third map.
  • Maps: Urchin Underpass, Walleye Warehouse, Saltspray Rig, Arowana Mall, Blackbelly Skatepark, Camp Triggerfish, Port Mackerel, Kelp Dome, Moray Towers, Bluefin Depot, Hammerhead Bridge, Flounder Heights, Museum d’Alfonsino, Mahi-Mahi Resort, Ancho-V Games, Piranha Pit
