Dai Gyakuten Saiban: new characters revealed, details on the 2nd episode, scans
Famitsu magazine just came out in Japan (at least, the digital version!), which means it’s time for new scans and new information about Dai Gyakuten Saiban: Naruhodou Ryuunosuke no Bouken! As announced previously, this week’s article gives us some details about the second episode of the game.
The second episode (or “case”) is called “The Adventure of the Friend and the Speckled Band”, which is an homage to “The Adventure of the Speckled Band” (a Sherlock Holmes short-story). It takes place on the Alaclair, a steamship heading to London.
As you can imagine, Naruhodou Ryuunosuke will get involved in an “incident”, of which he’s the prime suspect (once again!). This mysterious incident involves a locked room and an adder, and it’s thanks to it that Ryuunosuke (trying to clear his name) will meet Sherlock Holmes (the famous detective) for the very first time… a fated meeting, in other words!
The article reveals two new characters:
– Nikomina Bolshevich (a 15 year-old ballerina). She’s running away from the Russian ballet corp she was once part of, and she’s heading to America.
– Mitrov Stroganov: a sailor who was patrolling the area of the ship where the incident occured.
The scans also show a character from the very first case, who isn’t working at a restaurant anymore it seems! An on the floor, there’s writing in Russian that says “wardrobe”.
As for investigation gameplay, Ace Attorney fans shouldn’t be lost at all, as it remains pretty similar to the previous entries in the series. During your investigations, you can examine things, talk to various people, move around and present evidence.
Just like in Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney – Dual Destinies, a marker next to the cursor will indicate which areas you’ve already examined. What’s more, when leaving a place, Mikotoba Susato (your partner) will tell you if there’s anything left to examine in the area you’re about to leave.
In the next article dedicated to Dai Gyakuten Saiban: Naruhodou Ryuunosuke no Bouken (coming soon), Famitsu will reveal at least one new character. The preview shows Iris Watson and an unnamed character, together in the lobby of the English courtroom.
