BitSummit 4th: attendance numbers revealed, best year ever for the event

BitSummit is the prime event for the indie scene in Japan, and it looks like it’s only getting bigger and bigger. Today, the Japanese Independent Game Association (JIGA) revealed the attendance numbers for BitSummit 4th (which took place on July 9th and July 10th), and they’re pretty good.

In total, 6 435 people attended BitSummit 4th, with 3 335 people on the first day (July 9th), and 3 100 people on the second day (July 10th). According to the Japanese Independent Game Association, that’s an increase of 43% compared to last year’s BitSummit, and the best year ever for the event.

It looks like this significant increase in attendance number is due to two things:

  • Nintendo attending the event this year (they were even one of the sponsors)
  • VR content
