Afterimage – Ver. 1.2.0 (Trio in the SEA)

  • Release date: December 14th 2023 (North America, Europe) / December 15th 2023 (Japan)
  • Patch notes:
  • Extra game mode “Trial of Soul” has two new playable characters, Karsa and 42. Defeat the boss “???” in Rainbow Plains to unlock this mode in the main menu – please update the game to the lastest version (1.2.0) to play the new contents.
  • Karsa is is an adventurer who is skilled in sword fighting. He can enter a unique “Flowing Stance”, and releases dazzling sword skills by continuously consuming MP.
  • 42 is a mighty caster and she always destroy her enemies with her iconic Crystalization Spells.
Major Updates
  • The “Trail of Soul” mode now introduces a new character, Karsa.
  • The “Trail of Soul” mode now offers character selection. After unlocking, you can freely choose between Renee, 42, and Karsa to challenge this mode.
Quality of Life Updates
  • Added game difficulty options, you can now select “normal” and “advanced” difficulty when starting the game (The advanced difficulty is the default difficulty of the previous version).
  • Fixed an issue where the third normal attack of character “42” sometimes could not be released normally.
  • Updated post color adjustment of certain levels.
  • Adjusted some UI animation effects.

Afterimage – Ver. 1.1.0 (Trial of Soul Update)

  • Release date: July 7th 2023 (North America) / July 8th 2023 (Europe, Japan)
  • Patch notes:
  • Extra game mode “Trial of Soul” is now available. Defeat the boss “???” in Rainbow Plains to unlock this mode in the main menu – please update the game to the lastest version (1.1.0) to play the new contents.
  • In this mode, Renee will be able to choose various builds with limited and re-balanced equipment and challenge any boss or boss combinations to unlock brand-new outfits for use in both the Trial of Soul Mode and Story Mode.
  • Added 3 new outfits for Renee, which are unlocked by “Defeating all bosses in Trail of Soul”, “Perfectly defeating all bosses in Trial of Soul” and “Perfectly defeating all Boss Combinations in Trail of Soul” to unlock.
Newly Added
  • Added map icons for NPCs like merchants and conjurors, now they will be automatically shown on map once you encountered them
  • Added map icons for NPCs with long sidequests, now they will be automatically shown on map once you took their quests
  • Added Achievement interface in Game Menu
  • Added Echo interface in Game Menu
  • Added Enemy Level Alert, now the game will automatically show a marker on enemies with a much higher level than Renee
  • Added an option for font size in Game Menu
Adjustments:
  • Adjusted the logic of selling items, now all weapons/armors/accessories with quantity above 1 can be sold (the last equipment left cannot be sold)
  • Adjusted and optimized the performance and cutscene of some main storylines
  • Adjusted the logic of taking and progressing the quests of Owl/Levine, now you can simultaneously take and progress the quests of Owl/Levine
  • Adjusted the max zoom degree of minimap, from 1.5x to 3x and simultaneously adjusted the icon resolutions in minimap
  • Adjusted the character stats in Talent Menu, now it shows more stats
  • Adjusted the bottom layer picture of the dialogue system
Bug fixes:
  • Fixed an issue where the visuals of item “Bless of Guardian” would remain on the screen after triggering its effect and returning to main menu
  • Fixed an issue where NPC Emily displayed incorrect portrait during certain dialogues
  • Fixed an issue where quest items would drop again after giving them to NPCs
  • Fixed an issue where 42 incorrectly invoked Renee’s combat voice when using certain attack actions
  • Fixed an issue where releasing jump button while using the ability of item “Crown of Windwalker” might cause jump deceleration
  • Fixed an issue where incorrect display of map name occurred when entering islands in sailing map
  • Fixed an issue where the attack animation of enemy “Pyro Assaulter” might get stuck
  • Fixed an issue where the weapon “Rage of Geo”did not cause damage when hitting enemies
  • Fixed an issue where inconsistent delay generation intervals for enemy projectiles occurred when different numbers of enemies were on the same screen
  • Fixed an issue where abnormal exit after taking the quest “Patrol” could cause the quest to disappear
  • Fixed an issue where the popup of obtaining the item “Memories, the Beginning” and “Anemo, the Harmony of World Tree” would cause the game to freeze

Adjustments:
  • Adjusted the down-kick control of the item “Left-wing feather of Windwalker”
  • Adjusted the logic of finishing the map exploration, now the exploration percentage of certain map will automatically reach 100% once the player has found all the treasures in this map
  • Adjusted the switching interval between music and map name when switching between different maps
  • Adjusted the auto-save, now the game will auto-save when the player unlocks a new achievement
Bug fixes:
  • Fixed an issue where the save file would be corrupted
  • Fixed an issue where the game sound could not be heard in PC version
  • Fixed an issue where memory leak could happen
  • Fixed an issue where the achievement “Epicure” could not be unlocked, added item “Clover” to the droplist of enemy “Living Vine” and “Rainbow Egg” to the droplist of enemy “Pyro Devourer”(The base drop rate are both -3%)

  • Fixed an issue where the player could get hurt while the pop-up window was displaying when obtaining an key item (now the game will automatically pause when the pop-up window is displayed after obtaining a key item)
  • Fixed an issue where some minor mistakes of English localization existed
  • Fixed an issue where the skill “Tiger Claw” could pass through walls and caused the player to be stuck
  • Fixed an issue where the player could open map while talking to the NPCs
  • Fixed an issue where the enemy “Failure” could flash out of the screen
  • Fixed an issue where the attack animations might end prematurely when the enemy is attacked continuously during its attack animations
  • Fixed an issue where the weapon “Fiery Claw” had wrong Chinese description
  • Fixed an issue where the attributes of automatic recovery of HP and MP still took effect when the character was in a static state such as dialogue, opening the item menu, and teleportation

Afterimage – Ver. ???

  • Adjusted the Switch preload strategies and optimised the pre-loading time for some media. After this update, the preload time of game installed in system memory will decrease from 80 seconds to 56 seconds, and the preload time of game installed on SD Cards will decreased from 111 seconds to 66 seconds.
    • This data is only the test results of the development machine, and the actual effect may vary)
  • Adjusted the level loading strategies after death, optimize the death loading speed of some media and models (including in more complex scenarios); The loading speed of some scene can be increased by 30-60%)

Adjustments:
  • Adjusted the way the Map System updates – it will now update when players access it.
  • Adjusted the place of “Flower of Confluence”, it will now be gained in Resting Town. (Players that have progressed past this point will automatically receive it).
  • Adjusted the hitboxes of some enemies’ attacks.
  • Adjusted the hitbox of some enemies’ contact damage.
  • Adjusted some enemy distribution in some areas with foreground to improve visibility.
  • Adjusted the Shop of NPC Alice – deleted the item “Windwalker’s Anklet” and added the item “Resting Potion” in Alice’s Shop at a reduced price.
  • Adjusted the buy price of all HP and MP potions and added 1 to the max carry limit of each HP and MP potion.
  • Adjusted the requirements to obtain the item “Emblem of Windwalker”. Now players obtain this item at the beginning of the game.
  • Adjusted the acquirement of item “Windwalker’s Anklet”. Now players will obtain this item initially after picking up the item “Left-wing Feather of Windwalker”.
  • Adjusted the trigger area for the end of the double-jump and downkick tutorial after obtaining the item “Left-wing Feather of Windwalker”.
  • Adjusted the location of item “Scavenger” to allow earlier access to it.
  • Adjusted the level requirements of some talents in the Talent Tree. Players will now be able to learn the first and second weapon skill of all weapons at an earlier stage.
  • Adjusted the description of weapons “Phantom”, “Moonlight”, “Bleak Moon”, “Soulhunt” and “Prism Gale” and added combo instructions to their unique weapon skills.
  • Adjusted the display of the unique skill “Mining Chant” of weapon “The Survived”
  • Adjusted the casting requirement of the unique skill “Soul Ignite” of the weapon “Evil Jade”. Now it requires at least 20 MP to cast.
  • Adjusted the effect upon kill of skill “Midas Touch” of sub-weapon “Scroll of Pillage”.
  • Adjusted the passive effect value of the accessory “Shade”.
  • Adjusted certain parts of the map “Rubiwood Forest” and the map “Sky Palace”.

  • Adjusted some skill hitboxes of enemy “Loss, the Galefeather”
  • Adjusted skill cooldowns for the enemy “Aqil, the Goliath of Pyro” to improve the combat experience.
  • Adjusted the trigger timing of one certain mechanism and altered it to be triggered during dialogue.
  • Adjusted the visuals of one certain mechanism.
  • Adjusted the visuals during the dialogue in one specific ending.
  • Adjusted the spacing in the level display of several languages.
  • Removed the level listed next to the map name.
  • Removed the hit-stagger time of some immobile enemies.
  • Removed two breakable one-way barriers in two maps.
  • Removed incorrect consumption effects of some food items.
Bug fixes:
  • Fixed an issue where after being hit by spikes or other mechanisms player will reset from invisible temporary savepoints too far. Added some invisible temporary savepoints during several platforming challenges. We will keep improving this in further updates
  • Improved enemy pathfinding.
  • Fixed an issue where the HP and MP do not decrease even with negative regeneration values once the player has full HP or MP.
  • Fixed an issue where successful parrying with the skill “Iron Bastion” still causes the player to receive contact damage.
  • Fixed an issue where using the right stick of a controller to scroll lines also moves the camera upwards or downwards.
  • Fixed an issue where the effect of the item “Mystic Coin” does not work properly if critical damage killed an enemy.
  • Fixed an issue where the effect and display of the item “Bless of Guardian” break the limit of HP bar.
  • Fixed an issue where enhancing the weapon “Prisma” decreases its attack and passive value.
  • Fixed an issue where the unique skill “Blinking Wyvern” of weapon “Celestial Remains” could cause the player to get stuck in walls.
  • Fixed an issue where the Magic Shield gained from the skill “Mystic Transformation” of sub-weapon “Scroll of Otherworld” did not properly remove the visual effect.
  • Fixed an issue where the accessory “Hollow Vessel” only worked with swords.
  • Fixed an issue where there are some Z-fightings on the map “Rubiwood Forest”.
  • Fixed an issue where some visuals of the map “Rubiwoord Forest”, “Silent Coast” and “Goliathfall” did not appear properly.
  • Fixed an issue where some platforms of the map “Resting Road” limit the jump height in platforming
  • Fix an issue where the hit time and water column mechanism displayed in the map “Silent Coast” did not line up properly
  • Fixed an issue where the collision of some moving platforms in the map “Albedo Tower” did not work properly.
  • Fixed an issue where the explode hitbox of the enemy “Explosive Meowling” did not work properly.
  • Fixed an issue where the blink skill of the enemy “Hideous Researcher” did not work properly.
  • Fixed an issue where the skills of the enemy “Failure” caused it to run into spikes.
  • Fixed an issue where the attack visuals of the enemy “Runic Guardian” remained after its death.
  • Fixed an issue where the Japanese dialogue scripts of NPC Alice were out of order.
  • Fixed an issue where the NPC Stanley’s dialogue at Emerald Falls did not work properly
  • Fixed an issue where sometimes the screen flashes to white and does not return to normal.
  • Fixed an issue where some fonts did not work properly.
  • Fixed an issue where some battle rooms had the wrong BGM.
Nintendo Switch
  • Adjusted pre-loading contents of some slow medium on Switch and reduced the first pre-loading time
  • Adjusted the display of entering the game on Switch and added loading hint
  • Adjusted some parameters on Switch to improve the performance on Dock Mode

How to download updates for Afterimage for the Nintendo Switch?

To download the updates for Afterimage, you have three options:

  • let the console do its thing if you have automatic downloads activated, and didn’t completely turn it off

If not…

  • try to launch the game from the Home Menu while being connected to the internet. You should get a prompt when doing so: simply follow the instructions on screen;

OR

  • select the game > press either + or – to go to the Options page > select Software update > select Via the Internet.

To check that you have the latest version installed, simply select the game on the Home Menu, and press – or + to go to the Options: the version number is displayed just below the game title.
