Super Mario Maker: new update available (Ver. 1.32)

Super Mario MakerYesterday and this morning, all online services for Super Mario Maker were down for almost 20h. This unplanned maintenance was due to a glitch occuring in Create Mode. Nintendo didn’t say what it was exactly, but it was apparently serious enough for them to have such lengthy maintenance, and without any prior warning.

As mentioned yesterday, the maintenance was to end when the latest Software update for Super Mario Maker (meant to fix the glitch) was ready to be released. Since the maintenance is now over, that means the update is finally available. Unsurprisingly, it doesn’t add anything, and in fact, doesn’t even include the usual “adjustments made for a more pleasant gaming experience”. All it does is fix the very glitch mentioned by Nintendo yesterday.

Here’s the official changelog:

  • Fix a glitch occuring in “Create” mode.

This update requires 298MB of free space on your Wii U or external HDD. To download it, you have two options:

  • let the console do its thing if you have automatic downloads activated. You should have the latest version the next time you lanch the game;
  • if not, you can launch Super Mario Maker from the Home Menu (not the Quick Start Menu) in order to trigger the download and installation of the update.

To check that you have the latest version of the game, simply launch it. You should see this at the bottom right corner of the screen:

Super Mario Maker Ver. 1.32Please note that you need to download this Software update in order to use the online features of Super Mario Maker.
