Super Mario Maker: new update available (Wii U: Ver. 1.45 / 3DS: Ver. 1.02)

Super Mario Maker (Wii U)

Today, Nintendo released a new update for Super Mario Maker on Wii U (the first one since July 22nd). It brings the game to Ver. 1.45, and unfortunately, doesn’t add anything… not even anything regarding the Nintendo 3DS version of the game (unless Nintendo simply chose not to mention it in the patchnotes).

Here’s the patchnotes:

• A number of issues have been fixed to make for a pleasant playing experience.

This update requires 297MB of free space on your Wii U or external HDD, and needs to be downloaded before you can use the online features of the game. To download it, you have two options:

• let the Wii U do its thing if you have automatic downloads activated. You should have the latest version installed the next time you launch the game (provided you did launch it at least once since the last update);
• if not, launch Super Mario Maker from the Home Menu of the Wii U (not the Quick Start Menu), in order to trigger the download manually.

To check that you have the latest version of Super Mario Maker, simply launch the game. You should see “Ver. 1.45” in the bottom right corner of the screen:

Super Mario Maker for Nintendo 3DS (Nintendo 3DS)

Super Mario Maker for Nintendo 3DS came out today in Japan (it will be released tomorrow in Europe and North America), but it’s already received two Software updates. The second one brings the game to Ver. 1.02, and activates two features of the game (Recommended Courses and 100 Mario Challenge).

Here’s the patchnotes:

• Activates Recommended Course and 100 Mario Challenge
• A number of issues have been fixed to make for a pleasant playing experience.

This update requires 167blocks / 20MB of free space on your SD Card, and needs to be downloaded before you can use the online features of the game. To download it, you have three options:

• start Super Mario Maker for Nintendo 3DS from the Home Menu of your Nintendo 3DS while being connected to the internet: you should get a prompt when doing so;
• search for Super Mario Maker for Nintendo 3DS in the Nintendo eShop, and select the update;
• use the option in the Nintendo eShop settings.

To check that you have the latest version of Super Mario Maker for Nintendo 3DS, simply launch the game. You should see “Ver. 1.02” in the bottom right corner of the screen:
