Yu-Gi-Oh! Saikyou Card Battle releasing on July 6th in Japan, will be F2P

Yu-Gi-OhYu-Gi-Oh! Saikyou Card Battle is the second Yu-Gi-Oh! game for the Nintendo 3DS. It was announced back in December, during the Jump Festa 2016, but there’s still a lot we don’t know about this game. And yet, the release date is much closer than you might think… it’s next month!

The scan below reveals that Yu-Gi-Oh! Saikyou Card Battle will be released on July 6th in Japan. We also learn that the game will be Free 2 Play, and the magazine confirms there will be the usual In-App Purchases. We don’t have any details about that aspect of the game, but we can assume players will have to buy additional decks of cards using real money.

Also, Konami recently updated the official website for Yu-Gi-Oh! Saikyou Card Battle, revealing additional details. First, we learn that you will get to participate in a tournament called the Legend Challenge. As for battles, the game will feature Speed Duels. The website confirms that the cards from the latest Start Decks will be included, and since the game is Free 2 Play, we can assume new cards will be added on a regular basis.

Finally, we have new characters (original ones, and famous ones):

  • Light Tsukiko (a young girl carrying a strange animal/monster)
  • Dark Kuroda (a young boy who seems to be one of your rivals)
  • Yugi Mutou
  • Seto Kaiba
  • Joey Wheeler

Yu-Gi-Oh! Saikyou Card Battle (3DS eShop) is releasing on July 6th in Japan. Unfortunately, we don’t know when the game will be released in Europe and North America. Our Upcoming Releases page has been updated with this new date!
