Yo-kai Watch 3 getting a budget re-release on July 20th in Japan

Since 2013, Level-5 has released a new Yo-kai Watch game ever year during the second week of July, with the most recent being Yo-kai Watch 3 (launched in July 2016):

  • July 2013: Yo-kai Watch
  • July 2014: Yo-kai Watch 2
  • July 2015: Yo-kai Watch Busters
  • July 2016: Yo-kai Watch 3

However, this year is going to be a bit different, as no new Yo-kai Watch game has been announced, not even a spin-off. There will not even be the next major update (Ver. 4.0), which is yet to be formally announced (though we do know it is coming later down the line).

But today, Level-5 announced that there would a budget re-release of Yo-kai Watch 3 on July 20th, with Yo-kai Watch 3: Sushi / Tempura – Level-5 The Best. This edition will cost 2 400 Yen (2 592 Yen + taxes), instead of 4 800 Yen (+ taxes) right now. Naturally, there is nothing special about this edition, though it’s safe to assume it will come with the latest update (Ver. 3.0). Naturally, it comes with the usual medal at retail.

This budget re-release is quite obviously there to benefit from the Summer holidays, which start but a few days later (but also the launch of the New Nintendo 2DS XL). We don’t know if Level-5 is also planning to have a budget re-release for Yo-kai Watch 3: Sukiyaki, but it’s likely there will be one alongside the latest movie in December.

Here’s what the boxart of Yo-kai Watch 3: Sushi / Tempura – Level-5 The Best looks like:
