Xenoblade Chronicles: sales data for Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Original Soundtrack and Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition Original Soundtrack
On August 2nd, Procyon Studio released two Xenoblade Chronicles music albums: the Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Original Soundtrack and the Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition Original Soundtrack. And in this post, you will find all the relevant sales data from Oricon and Billboard Japan for those two albums: units sold, positions in Daily Album rankings and the Weekly Album Rankings, and more.
Before we dive into sales data for the Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Original Soundtrack and the Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition Original Soundtrack, here’s some additional details:
- only sales of the Regular Edition of both albums are counted, as the Limited Edition was sold exclusively via the Procyon Studio Store.
- the Xenoblade Chronicles Original Soundtrack Trinity Box was also sold exclusively via the Procyon Studio Store, and so was not tracked by Oricon
Also, the Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Original Soundtrack album sold 14 953 units at launch back in 2018 (with + 2 000 units for the Complete Edition).
August 16th
During their second week, neither the Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Original Soundtrack album nor the Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition album ranked in Oricon’s Weekly Album Ranking (Top 50).
The former ranked #98 in Billboard Japan’s Hot Albums chart (down from #18 during launch week), and #58 in the Top Download Albums chart (down from #8 during launch week). The latter did not rank in any of the charts.

August 11th
The Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Original Soundtrack album ranked #30 in Oricon‘s Combined Weekly Album Ranking (which includes retail sales, digital sales, and streaming) with 2 817 points. That means the album sold 782 units on digital music platforms, as the album is not available on streaming services (yet).
The Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition did not chart, which mean it got less than 1 919 points, and so sold less than 446 units digitally.
NB: 1 unit sold at retail and digitally = 1 pt.
August 8th
According to Oricon, the Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Original Soundtrack album was the 23rd best-selling album during its launch week with 2 035 units sold. That’s a significant drop compared to the Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Original Soundtrack (14 953 units at launch + 2 000 units for the Complete Edition), but seeing that even Splatoon 3 saw an equally steep drop, it is not all that surprising.
As for the Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition Original Soundtrack, it was the 29th best-selling album last week in Japan with 1 473 units sold.
But that’s not all! Billboard Japan report the following sales for the two albums:
- XC3: 19th best-selling album with 2 505 units sold, and 8th best-selling album (Downloads). Also ranked #18 in the Hot Albums chart.
- XCDE: 22nd best-selling album with 1 910 units sold, and 21st best-selling album (Downloads). Also ranked #21 in the Hot Albums chart.
