The Super Mario Bros. Movie grosses over 13.53 billion Yen in Japan

Toho (the Japanese distributor) has sent a new press release to share some more details about the performance of the Super Mario Bros. Movie in Japan. The company announced that the movie has now grossed over 13.53 billion Yen (roughly $95,400,00) in the country. It is now the most successful movie of the year in the country!

Here’s some more stats:

  • Week-end (August 4th to August 6th): 57,370,870 Yen / $404,531, with 43 213 tickets sold
  • Total: 13,534,965,620 Yen / $95,437,208, with 9,504,609 tickets sold

Also, the Super Mario Movie has broken another record: it’s now the highest grossing Universal movie of all time in Japan, and the 20th highest grossing movie in Japan.

  • 2nd most successful western animated movie (no change since last update)
  • 13th most successful animated movie (western + Japanese) (was ranked #14 as of July 31st)
  • 20th most successful movie (was ranked #25 as of July 31st)

  • United States: $574,173,895, 14th highest grossing movie of all times (no change since last update)
  • International: $778,583,000
