Introducing…ENDLESS CHALLENGE!

For the first time in AVGN game history, you can battle through randomized rooms, take on every boss in the game, and obtain helpful items along the way in ONE penultimate mode! With rooms taken from every level of the game, you can expect a boss waiting for you after every 10 rooms you run through! But after defeating a boss, the difficulty will increase! The further you progress, the tougher the rooms will get!

And after you beat a boss, you can look forward to obtaining helpful items in the item shop! You’ll meet the Game Weenie, who will show you 2 to 4 random items that you can purchase with the coins you collect in Endless Challenge! But, in the event you DON’T like what the Game Weenie has, you can rub his lamp to change them. But be careful–doing so will decrease his mood, which may affect which items appear in your reroll, along with how many items show up!

Here’s a breakdown of all the new items you can potentially pick up in the Game Weenie’s item shop!

	DESCRIPTION
	SPIKE PROTECTOR (PASSIVE) Allows you to take damage from spikes. Limited uses!
	BROWN BRICKS (USABLE) Throw brown bricks! Unlimited uses while in the item slot! I just love throwing BROWN BRICKS!
	FLOOR SKIP (USABLE) Skip a floor! Doesn’t work on bosses.
	GUN LOCK (PASSIVE) Don’t lose weapon power pips when damaged. Unlimited while in the item slot.
	PIT PROTECTOR (PASSIVE) Teleport back to safe ground when you fall into a pit. Limited uses!
	COIN MAGNET (PASSIVE) Vacuum up nearby coins! Doesn’t allow them to go through walls.
	SUPER COIN MAGNET Vacuum up nearby coins from further distances, even through walls!
	MAX GUN (INSTANT) Maximizes your weapon power pips!
	GUN BOOSTER (PASSIVE) Increases your weapon power pips by 1 for every floor you complete. Unlimited while in the item slot.
	DIFFICULTY UP (INSTANT) Increases the current run difficulty. Higher difficulty also means more coins!
	DIFFICULTY DOWN (INSTANT) Decrease the current run up difficulty.
	REMOVE SHITTY CURSES (INSTANT) Removes all active shitty curses.
	1-UP (INSTANT) Increases your current lives by 1 (max 3).
	NERD RAGE (USABLE) Grants you temporary invulnerability.
	F-BOMB (USABLE) Stuns enemies briefly and deals damage.
	LOCAL BREW (USABLE) Throws shitty beer at enemies.
	ENDLESS SHIT PICKLE (USABLE) Allows you to summon Shit Pickle to fight with you. Usable up to 5 times!
	WEAPON INCREASE (INSTANT) Increases your weapon power pips by 2.
	SCOPE (INSTANT) Gives you the upgraded scope, allowing you to charge your weapon!
	BROKEN CARTRIDGE (USABLE) Tilts the cartridge, causing all sorts of random chaos! Effects unknown!
	HEALTH (INSTANT) Refills a large amount of health.
	SMALL HEALTH (INSTANT) Refills a small amount of health.

And that’s not all! You’ll want to steer clear of these SHITTY CURSES that the Game Weenie might mix in with the other items in the shop!

	DESCRIPTION
	REAPER Causes a Flippin’ Reaper to spawn on all horizontal rooms.
	GREEN FACE Causes a Green Face to spawn on all rooms.
	HORRIBLE PIDERS Randomly replaces the contents of treasure chests with a Skull Pider.
	NO-PIP NOVEMBER Causes you to no longer drop pips when damaged.
	HALF GOLD All gold received is halved.
	SHIT FLY Shit Flies will spawn randomly.
	HARD AS BALLS Everything behaves as it would on the “Hard as Balls” difficulty.
	PIP REDUCER Every floor removes a pip from your weapon level.

And is that…Fury Rhoads?! Why, yes. YES, IT IS! With the onset of Endless Challenge, you might also encounter levels and characters from lead developer Programancer‘s other titles, namely Prison City and the upcoming Transylvania Adventure of Simon Quest!

In addition to the new Endless Challenge mode, this update also comes with a host of changes:

Toggle for Golden Shitpickle Item added in Experience Options (Final Life Assist Item)
Golden Shitpickle behavior changed on bosses for Normal difficulty
Fixed issue where you can die on the spikes after defeating T.P. by making the player immortal during this time
Fixed an issue with the wave gun not damaging T.P.s eyes under some circumstances
Fixed an issue where setting Screen Scale on some platforms would change the option but not initialize the game with the preferred selection
Endless Challenge Mode with randomized progress and modifiers added
Adjusted Guillotine sensitivity causing it to not activate in some circumstances
Fixed an issue where sometimes pausing becomes impossible after the 4 Nerds fight
Made it so Festerdrome can’t take a pot shot at you after you kill it
Adjusted drop platform hitbox on Festerdrome to allow you to better attach to them
Adjusted some enemy behaviors
Subtitle positioning adjusted across all platforms
Reverse London Letule no longer damages player on contact

How to download updates for The Angry Video Game Nerd 8-Bit on Nintendo Switch?

To download the updates for The Angry Video Game Nerd 8-Bit, you have three options:

let the console do its thing if you have automatic downloads activated, and didn’t completely turn it off

If not…

try to launch the game from the Home Menu while being connected to the internet. You should get a prompt when doing so: simply follow the instructions on screen;

select the game > press either + or – to go to the Options page > select Software update > select Via the Internet.

To check that you have the latest version installed, simply select the game on the Home Menu, and press – or + to go to the Options: the version number is displayed just below the game title.
