Taiko Drum Master: Dokodon! Mystery Adventure – Additional details, screens

Taiko Drum Master 3DS 3Last week, Bandai-Namco revealed the very first trailer for Taiko Drum Master: Dokodon! Mystery Adventure, the third Taiko Drum Master game on Nintendo 3DS. If that wasn’t enough for you, you’re in luck: the company revealed some more details, screenshots, and artworks for the game earlier today!

Chapter 2

The details cover the second chapter of the game, which will have Don-chan travel all the way to Easter Island after his trip to Greece in the first chapter. Overnight, a giant forest suddenly appeared on the island, and Don-chan and his friends will go investigate. Upon arrival, they learn from the villagers than the village’s elder has disappeared: just what on earth is happening on that island?

The artworks below show some of the monsters that appear in Chapter 2. We also get to see the boss of the chapter: Cocatrice, who can shoot a petifying laser from his eyes. It petrifies nearby branches and clouds, who then fall on the screen and prevent you from seeing the upcoming rhythm icons.

Head after the break for the rest of this post!

Synthesis

As you progress through the story, you will unlock a mysterious cauldron, which will be placed in the museum. You can use it for Synthesis, and Fusion. Synthesis allows you to power-up your characters, and works that way:

  • you select a character to power-up
  • you add some materials (up to 10)

As for fusion, it works just like in most other RPGs with a similar system: you fuse two specific monsters, and you end up with a different, and significantly stronger, monster. Some of the characters in the game will give you tip about the types of monsters you should fuse, so you will have to make sure to listen to what everybody has to say.

Tracks

Next, more tracks have been revealed: there’s Namco originals, Classical pieces, and more.

Collaboration characters

Finally, we have details about the collaboration characters:

  • Kirby and DeDeDe from the Kirby series. They fight together;
  • Mauchuu: a special character created by Studio Ghibli for the Taiko Drum Master 15th Anniversary anime short;
  • Rakitama from Kamisama Minarai: Himitsu no Kokotama. He can heal your teammates;
  • Korosensei, from Assassination Classrom. He can heal your teammates if you use your Drum Magic (by touching the icon on the bottom screen when the gauge is filled).
  • Phoenix Wright, from Ace Attorney. He defend your teammates… literally, not in court! Thanks to him, the other characters will receive less damage.

Taiko Drum Master: Dokodon! Mystery Adventure (3DS) comes out on June 16th in Japan.
