New Mode, features and update

The Tourney Mode will be added to the game in August. It was also confirmed that it would soon be possible to upload replays directly to YouTube. That way, your replays will be preserved even after major Software updates, and everyone will be able to watch them (from a PC, smartphone, tablet, etc.).

But that’s not all: Nintendo just released a special app on the Nintendo 3DS, which allows you to use a 3DS / 3DS XL / 2DS / New 3DS / New 3DS as a controller with Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, but without a copy of the game for the Nintendo 3DS. It costs: 0.99€ / 0.89£ / 0.99$.

Finally, Nintendo released a brand new update for the game was released. Here’s the patch notes:

Wii U

    • Users will be able to purchase newly added downloadable content.
    • Miiverse Stage has been added.
    • The stage can be selected when playing Smash mode with less than 4 players
    • Messages posted to the dedicated character Miiverse communities will appear when the Wii U hardware is connected to the Internet.

*The Miiverse Stage cannot be selected in Online Smash

  • Miiverse communities for cheering on each fighter have been created (each character will have their own)
  • Adjustments have also been made to make for a more pleasant gaming experience.

Nintendo 3DS

    • Users will be able to purchase newly added downloadable content.
    • Added compatibility with the NFC Reader/Writer accessory, scheduled to be released in 2015. Users will be able to use amiibo accessories with their Nintendo 3DS, Nintendo 3DS XL and Nintendo 2DS systems and compatible games using the NFC Reader/Writer.
    • Adjustments have also been made for a more pleasant gaming experience.
