Super Bomberman R 2: release dates (Europe, North America, Japan, digital); latest trailer and details about Castle mode

This year, the Bomberman series is celebrating its 40th Anniversary, and what better way to mark the occasion than with a brand new Bomberman game? Konami has just announced that Super Bomberman R 2 will launch in September worldwide. Here’s all the release dates:

  • North America (retail): September 12th
  • Europe and North America (digital): September 13th
  • Europe and Japan (retail): September 14th

Super Bomberman R 2 will be available at retail and via the Nintendo eShop. In Japan, it will cost 5 995 Yen, as opposed to 49.99€ / $49.99 in Europe and North America.

To celebrate the announcement, Konami shared a brand new trailer for the game:

Also, the official website was updated, and now features some additional details about the brand new Battle Mode, Castle. In this mode, up to 16 players can take part in intense battles over treasure chests. Players are divided into two teams:

  • Attack Side: Collect keys and aim for the treasure chests at the goal!
  • Castle Side: Guard the treasure chests until the clock runs out! If even just one treasure chest is protected, you win!

In order to defend the Castle and the precious treasure chests, players on the Castle Side can use various gimmicks and Ellons, along with special weapons. Said weapons can be charged by meeting the required conditions.

An interesting aspect of this game mode is that it allows you to create your own stages thanks to the Stage Editor. You can either choose from templates or a random setup. The Editor also allows you to place Gimmicks and obstructing walls wherever you want.

Once you’re done creating your stage, you can upload it and share it with players all over the world. And of course, you can search and download those created by other players if you’re not in a creative mood!

Finally, here’s some more pictures for the game:

Super Bomberman R 2 (Switch) comes out at retail on September 12th in North America, and September 14th in Europe and Japan. The digital release is on September 13th in Europe and North America.
