Story of Seasons: more details and screens (family, house expansion, more)

bokujo_3satoBokujou Monogatari 3tsu no Sato no Taisetsuna Tomodachi, the latest entry in the Story of Seasons series, comes out later this month in Japan (on June 23rd). In Famitsu magazine, last week, Marvelous revealed that the protagonist’s family would appear in the game.

They are called:

  • Darius (father): a business dealing in commerce, and he doesn’t really approve of your decision to go live in your own and build a farm;
  • Marina (mother): unlike her husband, she’s quite supportive of the protagonist’s decision to move away;
  • Linne (little sister): like the mother, she fully supports you. In fact, it looks like she will even visit you from time to time.

Your family sees you off at the beginning of the game, and after that, you communicate with them via letters.

Famitsu reminds us that you will be able to customise the appearance of your character, which does include an option for skin tone (besides the clothes, hairstyles, etc.). The article also details the Power Circle: special buildings you can place on the field in order to improve your crops. There’s various types of Power Circle, with various effects (such as cacti, a fountain, statues, and more).

Naturally, you have limited space in your fields, and you will have to place those Power Circles strategically in order to make the most of them… it’s a bit like the probes in Xenoblade Chronicles X, when you think about it! For example, you can place a Power Circle in such a way that it’s fully surrounded by Farming Circles, which will all benefit from it. Alternatively, you can place one in such a way that only specific Farm Circles will benefit from it.

Here’s a video showcasing that system:

Also, Famitsu confirms that you will once again be able to “upgrade” your house. You will start with a very humble shack, and you will end up with a very big house after progressing through the game. And of course, there’s also various types of wallpaper, flooring/carpets, and furniture to choose from.

Finally, here’s some screencaps from the official website, and the scans from Famitsu, which can be both found after the break!
