Splatoon: tweets, videos and pics of the day (May 20th), t-shirts, Squid Girl collaboration

Squid Research Lab

Today, the Squid Research Lab posted three messages on the official Twitter account for Splatoon. This time around, the researcher talked about the Battle Dojo: a 1 vs 1 mode played locally. The first pic shows the building you need to enter in order to play this mode, which has different rules compared to the online modes. One player plays on the GamePad, the other on the TV with a Wii U Pro Controller.

In Battle Dojo, the goal is to pop as many balloons as possible within the time limit. The balloons appear randomly around the arena, and you can see in advance where they are going to appear thanks to markers.

Each time you pop up a balloon, you get one point. If you defeat your opponent during the battle, you can make them lose points, so it’s definitely something to keep in mind. What’s more, each balloon popped during the last minute of the battle nets you 2 points, so you really should keep on fighting until the bitter end!

Finally, the Squid Research Lab posted another weapon video, showcasing the Splatroller set of weapons:

Splatoon Global Testfire

Nintendo uploaded a video for the Splatoon Global Testfire, introducing and explaining the various aspects of the demo.

Don’t forget: the last play session for the Splatoon Global Testfire demo will take place this week-end!

T-Shirts

In Japan, EditMode will release some Splatoon t-shirts next month. They come in XS / S / M / L / XL sizes, and cost 4 600 Yen (sale starts on June 13th at 10PM JST, shipping on June 16th).

Here’s some pictures:

Squid Girl X Splatoon

Masahiro Anbe is the author of Ika Musume (Squid Girl in English), a manga featuring a rather unique “Squid Girl”. During the past few weeks, he posted a couple illustrations of Splatoon in the style of his manga on his Twitter account, which led many to hope for an official Squid Girl X Splatoon collaboration. And it looks like there is going to be one!

Here’s scan from a magazine, which is teasing a special contest where 30 readers will be able to win a copy of Splatoon. The most important part is, of course, the Squid Girl X Splatoon collaboration teased. From the looks of it, it’s going to be one illustration only, to celebrate this contest.
