Skipmore (Fairune devs) working on Kamiko for the Nintendo Switch, out next month in Japan
Fairune is a retro 2D-Action game developed by Skipmore, a Japanese indie studio, that received a sequel on Nintendo 3DS last year (logically called Fairune 2). Last week, Nintendo’s official website erroneously listed Fairune 2 as a Nintendo Switch game, which is pretty funny as the release date actually predates the first official showing of the console!

But perhap even more amusing than Nintendo’s error is that Skipmore is truly working on a Nintendo Switch game, though it’s not Fairune 1, 2, or even 3. The game they’re working on is called Kamiko, and it will be released in April in Japan. It will cost 500 Yen.
According to leaked details from Famitsu magazine, Kamiko is (unsurprisingly) an action game taking place in a pixel art world. You get to play as three different shrine maidens (each with their own abilities), and go through various levels ending with a boss.
The three characters you can play as are:
- Yamato: shrine maiden of water. She battles using Kusanagi no Tsurugi, a sword with a long reach;
- Uzume: shrine maiden of earth, who lives in the forest. She battles using Yasakani no Magatama, a bow that allows her to attack from afar;
- Hinome: shrine maiden of fire. She battles using Yata no Kagami, a shield that she can throw like a boomerang.
According to Famitsu, development is 90% complete, which isn’t surprising since the game is supposed to be released next month. Here’s the preview scan from the magazine:

Kamiko (Switch – eShop) will be released in April in Japan. The Upcoming Releases page has been updated!
