Shovel Knight: trailer for the Japanese release

Shovel KnightShovel Knight came out almost two years ago in North America (and several months later in Europe), but in Japan, the game is still not available. Of course, we’re talking about the Wii U and Nintendo 3DS, which will be published by Nintendo themselves, in June.

The Shovel Knight amiibo will even be released, along with a bundle including a physical copy of the Nintendo 3DS version and the amiibo. That bundle will be the only version of the game to be released at retail in Japan, and Wii U owners will have no other option that to buy it via the Nintendo eShop. Same for Nintendo 3DS owner who want the game without the amiibo (because they don’t need it, or already bought it since amiibo are region-free).

Today, Nintendo shared a trailer for the Japanese release of Shovel Knight. Obviously, there’s nothing new in there (the opposite would have been surprising for an almost 2+ years old game!), but it does mention the amiibo features at the end.

Here’s the trailer:

For those who missed the Nintendo Direct, last month, here’s the prices for the game in Japan

  • Standalone copy (Wii U, Nintendo 3DS – Nintendo eShop): 2 000 Yen
  • Bundle with amiibo (Nintendo 3DS): 3 500 Yen
  • Shovel Knight amiibo: 1 500 Yen

Shovel Knight (Wii U / 3DS) and the amiibo come out on June 30th in Japan.
