Shantae: 1/2 Genie Hero – Temmie joins the team, target release date, boxed copy Q&A

Yesterday, WayForward posted the latest Kickstarter update for Shantae:Half-Genie Hero. Here’s what’s in store for this one:

Temmie

While you may not necessarily know who Temmie is, you’ve definitely heard about the game she created… Undertale! She has joined the Shantae: Half-Genie Hero development team, and is helping them with animation. You can find Gifs of her work with Slimegal (a Backer Enemy) in the Kickstarter update.

Target release date

WayForward clarified that September 27th was their target release date for Shantae: Half-Genie Hero. They’re planning to release the game on all platforms and in all regions at the same time on that day, but that’s only if everything goes well. The release date might change due to unforeseen consequences (like the game failing to pass lotcheck).

Boxed copies Q&A

WayForward also put together a Q&A regarding boxed copies of Shantae: Half-Genie Hero. Here’s what they said about them (make sure to check out the Source link for the whole thing!):

  • Backers cannot change their pledge to a physical copy, due to WayForward being unable to ship physical copies themselves. However, Backer DLC should be compatible with the physical version, so if you chose buy it, you should not get locked out of content you paid for;
  • They haven’t announced a publisher for Europe… yet.

We have not announced a publisher for EU yet! This does not affect the target release date for EU digital. We hope to release all versions at the same time if at all possible.

  • the soundtrack CD that comes with the boxed copies does not include the backer-exclusive bonus tracks.
