Shantae: Half-Genie Hero – Launch trailers, details on first update, more

To celebrate the launch of Shantae: Half-Genie Hero, on Tuesday, both XSEED and WayForward uploaded their own launch trailer for the game:

Want to see more of the game? If yes, then you should definitely check out the recording of XSEED’s livestream!

If you’re wondering what’s next for the development team, the answer is… some well-deserved rest! Starting today, it’s vacation time for everyone, though they will keep on working on Backer Support emails.

After vacations will come the time to resume work on the first update for the game, which will focus on bug fixes. Since Shantae: Half-Genie Hero was released simultaneously worldwide, and on many platforms to boot, there’s no doubt quite a few bugs made it in the final version…

The good news is that the development team has already fixed many of the issues found by Backers and Early Access Backers. Of course, they will go through bug reports again after their break, in order to make sure the first update fixes as many bugs as possible.

As for the DLC, the team is also working on it, and more details will be shared early next year. Don’t forget that:

  • BLUE SHANTAE, TINKERBAT FORM, and various Backer Exclusive features are to be delivered separately;
  • the chapter-based stretch goals (“Sequence of Unfortunate Events” and “Fire and Forget”) are included in the launch version;
  • Backers will not have to pay for any upcoming DLC… even paid DLC!

Naturally, WayForward is also working on the remaining digital and physical rewards for backers.

If you backed Shantae: Half-Genie Hero on Kickstarter, you should have received your download code by now…. even if you live in Europe (download codes came late for that region due to issues with a “certain financial institution”). If you haven’t received your code yet, make sure to check out this Kickstarter update.

For fans who pledged at least $25 during the Kickstarter campaign, WayForward has begun sending the Digital Soundtrack Reward (which includes some exclusive tracks, not found in the Risky Beats Edition CD). To claim it, you have to click on the link found in the Backerkit mail you should have received by now.

Fans who pledged at least $75 will get the music CD next year (that includes special artwork and an exclusive track, and WayForward will share more details in January.

Finally, the Shantae: Half-Genie Hero soundtrack will soon be available for purchase from Kaufman’s Bandcamp page.
