PokéNews (Dec. 8, Round 2) – Pokémon Sun and Moon sales (EU) / Pokémon GO: Starbucks (US)
Today’s Pokémon news (Round 2!): more sales data for Pokémon Sun and Moon in Europe, but also…
- Pokémon GO
Pokémon Sun and Moon
Last week, Nintendo announced that Pokémon Sun and Moon had sold over 1.5 million during the first week in Europe, which was the biggest launch ever for a Nintendo game in the region. But that was just the beginning: the company announced today that the latest entry in the mainline Pokémon series has already sold over 2.1 million units (during the first 12 days).
In other words, Pokémon Sun and Moon sold over 600 000 during its second week, which is a pretty solid result. With Christmas just around the corner, sales are bound to remain really strong until January.

Pokémon GO
Yesterday, Niantic announced a partnership with Sprint, which became the very first Pokémon GO sponsor in the United States. And today, a second and even bigger sponsorship was announced, this time with Starbucks. Starting today (11AM PT / 2PM ET), all 7,800 company-operated Starbucks stores in the United States are to become PokéStops and Gyms.
What’s more, Starbucks went as far as creating a special-edition Pokémon GO Frappuccino, which will be available only for a limited time.
