Pokémon The Movie: Mewtwo Strikes Back Evolution
As expected, the latest trailer for Pokémon The Movie: Mewtwo Strikes Back Evolution was revealed today, during the latest episode of Oha Suta in Japan. Here it is (along with short version):
Two voice actors were also revealed/confirmed:
- Mew: Koichi Yamadera (same as the original movie)
- Miranda: Sachiko Kobayashi (same as the original movie)
Pokémon The Movie: Mewtwo Strikes Back Evolution opens on July 12th in Japan.

Pokémon Detective Pikachu
Yesterday, the latest trailer for Pokémon Detective Pikachu was revealed, taking the form of fake casting footage for the various Pokémon:
It was also revealed that a special promo card for the Pokémon Trading Card Game will be available for fans who go watch the movie in theatres during the opening weekend (limited stock; first come, first served basis). Depending on the country, the card may only be distributed in theatres screening the movie in 3D (such as the UK).
Naturally, this card features the one and only Detective Pikachu:
Tickets for the movie are already available for pre-purchase in the United States, and will be available from April 25th in the UK.

Pokémon Sword and Shield
Ahead of the release of the magazine, CoroCoro have shared more details about the move naming contest for Pokémon Sword and Shield.
Here’s all the details:
- Type: Steel (Special)
- Damage: 140
- Effects: deals lots of damage, but causes the user to lose half its HP
- Name: has to be 8 characters long (Katakana, Hiragana, Romaji). Must not have been used in a previous game.
- Deadline: May 10th
- Prizes:
- 1st place (1 winner): Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield
- Runner-ups (20 winners): Pokémon Sword or Pokémon Shield
- Winner selection: winning name will be picked up by the developers themselves, players will not get to vote for their favourite name. If more then one person came up with the winning name, then the overall winner will be selected via lottery. To enter, you must send a postcard included in the latest issue of CoroCoro magazine (out on Monday in Japan), therefore confirming the contest is only open to fans in Japan.

Community Day
Niantic have announced that if you evolve Shelgon into Salamence during the upcoming Community Day (and up to 1h after it’s ended), then it will know the exclusive move Outrage.

Special Event
Another Special Event for Pokémon GO has been announced. This one will coincide with Anime Boston 2019, taking place from April 19th to April 21st in Boston. The usual bonuses will be live near the venue:
- increased Pokémon spawns (Turtwig, Chimchar, Piplup)
- Double Stardust
- 4 Hours Lure Modules
