Pokémon Presents: new presentation announced for Pokémon Day (February 27th); Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen coming to Switch

It’s on February 27th, 1996 that the very first Pokémon games (Pokémon Red and Green) were released in Japan. And what better way to celebrate the Anniversary of the Pokémon series than with a new Pokémon Presents?

This year again, The Pokémon Company will livestream a Pokémon Presents to celebrate Pokémon Day. And this year promises to be quite exceptional, seeing that this is the 30th Anniversary of the series!

This new presentation will be livestreamed on February 27th, and will last around 25 minutes. The Pokémon Company hasn’t communicated on what exactly will be shown, but based on past presentations, we can expect quite a few announcements covering games, the Trading Card Game, mobile games, multimedia, and possibly even merchandise.

The February 2026 Edition of Pokémon Presents will be livestreamed on February 27th at the following time:

  • Europe: 3PM
  • UK: 2PM
  • North America (ET): 9AM
  • North America (PT): 6AM
  • Japan: 11PM

As usual, the presentation will be livestreamed on YouTube, and an embed will be added to this post as soon as it’s live.

Also, in Japan specifically, there will be a countdown starting 30 minutes before the livestream. It’s not clear what this countdown will consist of, though.

And don’t forget: a post with the full recording of the presentation + the press release with all the announcements and details will be posted shortly after, so stay tuned!

Finally, for those who really can’t wait for Pokémon Day, The Pokémon Company has already made one announcement: Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen are coming to Nintendo Switch on February 27th!

Here’s the reveal trailer:

Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen will launch on Pokémon Day (February 27th), exclusively on the Nintendo eShop. It’s now available for pre-order worldwide for 19.99€ / £16.99 / $19.99 / 2,000 Yen, and if you do pre-order it, you will be available to play immediately after the Pokémon Presents!

And in Japan, The Pokémon Company will release a special box including the following:

  • Download Card for either version of the game
  • GameBoy Advance packaging (reproduction, without a manual or an actual cartridge inside)
  • Glass Poké Ball ornament set
  • Display case

This special box will be available via the Pokémon Center online store, and may be sold at actual Pokémon Center stores at a later date. Unfortunately, it’s not clear if a similar set will also be released outside Japan.
