Pokémon news (July 24th) – Pokémon distributions at GamesCom, Kyogre back in Pokémon Shuffle, more

GamesCom

Today, The Pokémon Company announced that players visiting Nintendo’s stand at the GamesCom (August 5-9 in Cologne, Germany) will be able to get a serial code, allowing them to download some Pokémon in Pokémon Omega Ruby / Alpha Sapphire. Those were picked up by Shigeki Morimoto (Battle Director) himself, and are said to be great for players interested in competitive play.

Here’s all the Pokémon you can get:

– Malamar (Level 50, Contrary): Superpower, Knock Off, Facade and Rock Slide. Holds the Assault Vest item.

Pokémon Shuffle

Did you miss the Kyogre challenge a few days ago? No problem: it’s now back until July 31st (6AM UTC). In the upcoming weeks, Kyogre, Groudon and Rayquaza will come back for one week each, until September 9th.

Also, special codes will be distributed during the next 3 weeks, via the Pokémon Get TV show in Japan.

Mewtwo amiibo

During the video presentation for Super Smash Bros. for Wii U / Nintendo 3DS, in June, Masahiro Sakurai confirmed that all characters would get their amiibo, including those released via DLC. And this week, we learned from the South African retailer Rauru that the Mewtwo amiibo might very well be released on October 23rd in Europe.

Of course, nothing is confirmed just now, but Rauru did get the right date for Splatoon (and the amiibo it also leaked)… and they were wrong about Super Mario Maker. On October 23rd, Nintendo will also release the Modern Colours Mario amiibo in Europe, and Nintendo usually release several new amiibo on the same day, so that date might very well be the right one.

Of course, until we get an official announcement from Nintendo, all this need to be taken with the usual grain of salt!

Battle competition

Pokémon Global Link

Last week, a special sale for the Pokémon Global Link (and more precisely the PokéMileage Shop), was announced. Called the “Summer Campaign”, it started on Tuesday, and runs until August 4th. It allows players to get all items at 50% off (which also includes all the Pokémon Global Link attractions).

As an added bonus, the item “Ability Capsule” is now available for purchase (5 000 PokéMiles). This item allows you to change the Ability of a Pokémon, provided it has two Standard Abilities to begin with.
