Pokémon GO
Over the past few days, some updates for Pokémon GO were released.
First, we have a server-side update, which went live on Saturday. Here’s what it changed:
- some PokéStops and gyms have been removed
- Pokémon spawns have been altered
- alterations of move damage
It was then followed by a client-side update, on both Android and iOS:
- Avatars can now be re-customized from the Trainer profile screen
- Adjusted battle move damage values for some Pokémon
- Refined certain Gym animations
- Improved memory issues
- Removed footprints of nearby Pokémon
- Modified battle damage calculation
- Various bug fixes during wild Pokémon encounter
- Updates to the Pokémon details screen
- Updated achievement medal images
- Fixed issues with displaying certain map features
- Minor text fixes
And today, a new update for Pokémon GO (Ver 0.31.0) on iOS (Ver 1.1.1) went live. Here’s the official changelog:
- Performance improvements in Pokémon details and list screens
- Correct link for app upgrade
Arceus distribution
As part of the Pokémon 20th Anniversary celebrations, The Pokémon Company has been releasing some Mythical Pokémon in Europe and North America. The distribution Pokémon for August is none other than Arceus, and unlike the previous one, you get it via a serial code distributed in store (code which will remain valid until November 31st, 2016).
Here’s where you can get your Arceus for Pokémon X, Y, Omega Ruby, and Alpha Sapphire:
- United States (Gamestop): from August 1st to August 24th
- Canada (EBGames): from August 1st to August 24th
- United Kingdom (GAME): from August 1st to August 24th
- Australia, New Zealand (EBGames): from August 1st to August 24th
- Spain (GAME): from August 1st to August 24th
- Germany (Gamestop): from August 1st to August 24th
- France (Micromania): : from August 1st to August 28th
- Italy (Gamestop): from August 1st to August 24th

On Friday, Nintendo revealed its plans for gamescom 2016, and here’s what’s in store for Pokémon:
- Pokkén Tournament tournament
- Shigeki Morimoto (Battle Director) will attend this year. He will host some sort of panel, and it looks like a surprise will be revealed there.

Pokémon sales in Italy
A few days ago, we learned that Pokémon GO was boosting sales of the Nintendo 3DS and of Pokémon games on that platform in the United Kingdom. And it looks like Pokémon GO had a similar effect in Italy, according to a press release Nintendo sent on Friday.
Here’s what Nintendo is reporting (since the launch of Pokémon GO):
- Pokémon games on Nintendo 3DS: +59%
- Pokémon Alpha Sapphire: +71%
- Pokémon Omega Ruby: +69%
- Pokémon X: +52%
- Pokémon Y: +89%
- Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon: +8%
- Five titles mentioned above: +60%
- Pokémon Sun and Moon: now the most pre-ordered Pokémon games in history in Italy… despite the two games not launching until November 23rd!
- Nintendo 3DS: +33% (despite the usual sluggishness of the market during Summer)
