Today’s Pokémon GO news: Holidays 2018 event announced, Lugia and Ho-Oh in Raid Battles this weekend, Trainer Battles now live + Developer Insights, Trainer customizations, new boxes available for purchase, and more!
Pokémon GO – Holidays 2018 event
Yesterday, Niantic shared details about the Holidays 2018 event. It’s made of several parts:
- Ice-type Pokémon such as Jynx, Sneasel, Swinub, Snorunt, Spheal, and Snover will appear more frequently from December 18th to January 2nd
- Festive Hat Pikachu, but also Delibird, will also be appearing
- Smoochum, Azurill, and Munchlax will have a greater chance of hatching from 7km Eggs
- players will be able to get a free, single-use Incubator once per day by spinning a Photo Disc on a PokéStop, until January 2nd
- catching and transferring Pokémon will net you double Candy from December 18th to December 22nd
- double Catch Stadust from December 22nd to December 26th
- double Catch XP from December 26th to December 30th
- Incubators will be twice as effective from December 30th to January 2nd
- Delibird-themed sweater, gloves, and boots will be available from the Style Shop from December 18th

New boxes
Earlier this week, new boxes were added to the in-game shop:
- Winter Box (480 Coins): Incense (x1), Incubator (x2), Premium Raid Pass (x3), Star Piece (x2)
- Great Box (720 Coins): Incense (x2), Super Incubators (x4), Premium Raid Pass (x5), Lure Module (x2)
- Ultra Box (1480 Coins): Super Incubator (x12), Lucky Egg (x10), Premium Raid Pass (x10), Star Pieces (x10)
