Nintendo @ San Diego Comic-Con: line-up and list of activities

The San Diego Comic-Con takes place from July 19th to July 22nd, and this year again, Nintendo is attending. There will be the usual games playable on Nintendo’s booth and at their Gaming Lounge, as well as various activities.

This year again, the San Diego ballroom of the Marriot Marquis & Marina will be host to the Nintendo Gaming Lounge (which is free and open to all), where players will be able to try out games like Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Mario Tennis Aces, FIFA 19, and Super Mario Odyssey, but also Just Dance 2019 on a special dance floor.

But that’s not all: players will also be able to “get a feel” of the new Poké Ball Plus controller, but it doesn’t look like Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! / Let’s Go, Eevee! itself will be playable. The Nintendo Gaming Lounge will also have a family-firnedly challenge in Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze (see more details below), a colourful backdrop inspired by Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker for taking pictures, and more.

If you have a preview night badge, you will be able to attend it on July 18th, too!

Naturally, there’s bound to be long lines to play Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, but if you tweet the Nintendo of America Twitter account (@NintendoAmerica) with the hashtag #BringMeSmash, you could win a chance to skip the lines!

If one of Nintendo’s roaming teams sees the tweet, they might show up with a golden ticket to allow the tweeter to skip the lines and get hands-on time with the game in the Nintendo Gaming Lounge

There’s still more! Nintendo is hosting the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate – Arcadian Teen Tournament on July 21st: it’s open for players ages 13 to 19, and will allow 64 players to compete in order to win prizes (participation and winning prizes).

Finally, to celebrate San Diego Comic-Con’s Family Day on Sunday, a family tournament will be held.

Parents and their kids will have to pair up and compete against other families for the fastest times on the leaderboards in Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze. The top 8 on the leaderboard at the end of the tournament will earn a prize package (that includes games and Donkey Kong memorabilia). You can sign up and compete on-site from 10AM to 4PM on Sunday.

Here’s the line-up of games playable at the Nintendo Gaming Lounge:

  • Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
  • Mario Tennis Aces
  • Super Mario Odyssey
  • Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
  • Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker
  • Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze
  • Overcooked! 2
