Wii games on Nvidia Shield (China)
For the Nintendo Switch, Nintendo partnered with Nvidia, but it looks like the parnership isn’t one-way affair. Today, it was announced that the two companies and iQiyi had entered a partnership in order to release selected Wii games on the Nvidia Shield, that Nvidia is planning to release in China.
The selection of Wii games includes classics such as Super Mario Galaxy, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, Punch-Out, and New Super Mario Bros. Wii, with more to come later. Those games are not emulated (sorry if you were getting excited at the prospect of Wii / GameCube games on Nintendo Switch), and were actually ported to the Nvidia Shield. They also happen to run in HD.
Also, there will not be any western or even Japanese release, at all. That being said, it’s more than likely hackers will try to make the game run outside China, but that would also require the English translation to be patched in, as it’s unlikely any of the Wii games will have any other language than Chinese.
