Splatoon 2
Yesterday, Nintendo announced a special collaboration for Splatoon 2, with JAMSTEC (Japan Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology), similar to the one with the Saga Prefecture held for Splatoon a couple of years ago. The goal is obviously to generate interest in the agency’s activities, and more precisely marine research.
A special website was launched, featuring the following:
- special reports
- details on a special event (coming soon)
- various announcements related to the collaboration
The special collaboration also appears in-game, with:
- a special Splatfest for Japan, taking place later this month
- special in-game gear, such as the Ocean Helm that you can get from Salmon Run this month
- the Shinkai 6 500 (a manned research submersible) was not only used as inspiration for the design of the Autobombs, it will also appear in the Octo Expansion!

Nintendo Minute
Here’s the latest Nintendo Minute episode, featuring Hisashi Nogami (Producer of Splatoon series) and Kosuke Yabuki (Producer of ARMS):
Hi! This week we were very lucky to have some special visitors. Mr. Nogami the producer of Splatoon and Mr. Yabuki the producer of ARMS and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe came to San Francisco for the Games Developers Conference. We challenge them to a round of rapid fire questions and let’s just say we learned a lot of stuff! As always, we hope you enjoyed this video. Thanks so much for watching and we’ll see you next week!

Super Mario Odyssey
The latest piece of concept-art for Super Mario Odyssey features Tiara, Cappy’s sister. Since she’s meant to look like a bridal tiara, she is wearing a veil. Her facial expressions are pretty much the same as her brother’s.
