Nintendo details PAX West activities, third Nindies@Night event, My Nintendo Pass, more

gamescom is still on-going, but Nintendo is already getting ready for the next event, which happens to take place next week: PAX West, held from September 1st to September 4th in Seattle. Today, Nintendo sent a press release to detail the various events and activities scheduled, as well as the games playable there.

First of all, and to the surprise of absolutely no one (this is THE big holiday game, after all), Super Mario Odyssey will be playable. But that’s not all: visitors will also be able to take part in the Super Mario Odyssey Fan Challenge every day of the show. Here’s how it works: you get a passport, that you can fill with stamps by completing certain activities related to the game. Once you have enough stamps, you can get some goodies.

PAX West 2017 will also see the return of the Nindies@Night event, running from 8.30PM to 12PM on August 31st, at the Museum of Pop Culture in Seattle. As usual, the event is open to the public, allowing players to meet and talk directly to the developers of upcoming indie games on Nintendo Switch.

If you cannot attend the event yourself, don’t worry: it will be livestreamed!

But that’s not all for indies at PAX West. Introducing the Nindie Arcade at PAX West (open from 12PM to 9PM every day, except Monday where it closes at 6PM)! If you want to play some of the upcoming indie games on Nintendo Switch, make sure toheaded to the convention center on the third floor in room 3D, where you will not only be able to play games, but also chat with the very people who created them!

On Saturday (September 2nd, from 10AM to 11AM, in the Hydra Theatre Leonesa I-III Ballroom at the Grand Hyatt Seattle hotel), a special Nintendo Minute episode entirely dedicated to Metroid: Samus Returns will be filmed, and up to 600 fans will be able to attend! This episode will have Kit, Krysta, and members from the Nintendo Treehouse Live showcase new gameplay and content.

There will also be fanart showcase, exclusive giveaways of collectable Nintendo Power cover-inspired posters, and more.

Pokkén Tournament will also be showcased at PAX West: not only will it be playable, but there will also be a Pokkén Tournament DX Virtual Academy event, on September 1st from 6PM to 8PM. It will feature a tournament, exhibition matches with professional players and memebers of the Nintendo Treehouse, and more.

Finally, several games will be playable at PAX West, such as…

Nintendo Switch

  • Super Mario Odyssey
  • ARMS
  • Splatoon 2
  • Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
  • Pokkén Tournament DX
  • Rocket League
  • NBA 2K18
  • FIFA 18

Nintendo 3DS

  • Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser’s Minions
  • Metroid: Samus Returns

But wait, there’s one last thing. If you’re looking to go play all those games, but don’t want to wait too long, make sure you do have a my Nintendo Account, and have your QR Code ready (you can get it from this page). With this QR Code, you can get a My Nintendo Pass, that allows you to access a priority line with shorter wait tines for the Nintendo booth and the Nindies Arcade (though only during specified times).

The passes will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis, while supplies last.
