Monster Hunter XX: screenshots for Lao-Shan Lung, the Fortress

On Tuesday, the usual preview from Famitsu magazine revealed that Lao-Shan Lung would be in Monster Hunter XX (Double Cross). This came to no surprise for fans, as that very monster was featured in the special video Capcom uploaded on New Year’s Day.

For those who don’t know, the Lao-Shan Lung is an Elder Dragon that was first introduced in the original Monster Hunter. Since then, it has appeared in several other games (including Monster Hunter Portable 1 and 2), but hasn’t been seen since Monster Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G / Monster Hunter Freedom Unite (released in 2007 in Japan, on the PSP).

In other words, Lao-Shan Lung being in Monster Hunter XX is a pretty big deal for fans of the series, who have been dying to go hunt it again for a while.

Here’s some pictures for the Lao-Shan Lung:

And if you’re thinking something along the lines of “Wait a minute… If the Lao-Shan Lung is back, does that mean the Fortress map is back too?!”, then you’re absolutely right. Capcom confirms that this map will indeed be in Monster Hunter XX. Its first appearance was in Monster Hunter, and it’s actually where you fought the Lao-Shan Lung.

Here’s one lone picture for the Fortress:

Monster Hunter XX (3DS) comes out on March 18th in Japan.
