Monster Hunter X: details from Famitsu, Nintendo 3DS Theme, videos, more

Monster Hunter XToday, it was revealed that Monster Hunter X would once again be featured in Famitsu magazine this week, with some additional details about the game. That includes the “Vicious mode”, a new state for monsters. When they’re affected, they become extremely violent and even more dangerous than normal.

It seems to be pretty similar to the Frenzied state from Monster Hunter 4G, but with a couple of major differences. Monsters in Vicious mode are surrounded by black smoke, and their attacks are much stronger than normal. When you attack them, your Hunting Skills gauge fills up even faster, which allows you to even the odds a little bit since you can use your Hunting Skills more often (and you will really need them!). Of course, if you manage to defeat a monster in Vicious mode, you will be able to get materials to make armors and weapons.

Finally, we learn that the Moat Arena (from Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G / Freedom Unite) is back in Monster Hunter X.

Next, here’s the equipment and guild card players will be able to get via the usual Monster Hunter: The Real collaboration quest (with Universal Studios), available from January 15th in Japan:

Here’s a picture and the preview video for the Monster Hunter X Theme for the Nintendo 3DS, to be released on November 28th in Japan (different from the pre-order bonus themes), where it will cost 200 Yen:

There’s also some screenshots from the demo version, coming out on Thursday in Japan (via the Nintendo eShop):
