Monster Hunter Stories: a monstrous RPG coming to the 3DS (2016)

Today, during a Monster Hunter Festa 2015 event in Tokyo, Capcom revealed a brand new Monster Hunter game. Even though it’s coming to the same platform as the two previous mainline titles (the 3DS, with already had Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate and Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate), it couldn’t be any more different…

The game is called Monster Hunter Stories, and seems to be a more traditional RPG (unlike regular Monster Hunter games, which are action games with deep RPG elements). The game sports a much more colourful art-style, which seems to indicate Capcom is targetting a younger audience with that game. Still, Monster Hunter Stories apparently has a vast (open?) world filled with various monsters, which is one aspect the series is known for.

Unfortunately, the game is far from being ready, as it won’t be released before 2016! No doubt Capcom should reveal more information in the upcoming weeks / months, most likely via Famitsu.

In the mean time, here’s the first trailer for the game:

Monster Hunter Stories (3DS) will come out in 2016 in Japan.
