Miiverse: major redesign for the web version

Back in July, Miiverse underwent a major redesign on all platforms (web, Wii U and Nintendo 3DS), with new features and a brand new look, along with significant changes for the game communities. But it looks like Nintendo wasn’t going quite done with the redesign, as a brand new design for the web version of Miiverse went live this morning.

Miiverse web redesignBut this time around, the changes are purely cosmetic: there are no new features or anything, even though the changes are quite significant. For example, there is now a dedicated Home Page for Miiverse (the one you land in when you go to https://miiverse.nintendo.net/). There, you can find featured communities, your favorite communities, new communities on Wii U and Nintendo 3DS, featured drawings, and more.

There’s also some minor changes, such as notifications now being called “Updates”. Overall, the UI has been complete redesigned, but the features remains pretty much the same. Also, this redesign is only for the web version of Miiverse (desktop, mobile), and doesn’t apply to the Wii U or Nintendo 3DS version. We don’t know if those versions will also get a redesign in the near future.

Here’s the announcement message from Erika:

Hi Miiverse friends,

As you might have already noticed, we have spruced up the design of the web version of Miiverse. If you access Miiverse through a computer or a smart device, such as a smartphone or a tablet, you can see the brand new design! There are no changes to the functionality of Miiverse.

Also, I’d like to inform you that some advertisements will be shown on the web version.

There are no changes for the Wii U and Nintendo 3DS versions of Miiverse.

That’s all for today. Thank you!
