Miitomo: next update to include fix for minor issue on iOS 10

It’s now been almost 2 months since Nintendo released the last update for Miitomo: it was Ver. 1.4.1, which was released for iOS and then devices in August. Naturally, it was unlikely that the company had stopped working on the app, and we now have confirmation that a new update was indeed in the works.

It’s not quite clear what will be included in this update (new features/content?), but we do already know that it will fix a minor issues impacting users with a device running iOS 10. Released a few weeks ago, this new version of iOS has been causing various issues with several apps/games (which is pretty normal when a new version of an OS is released), and developers have had to push updates to fix those.

Fortunately for Nintendo, Miitomo runs just fine on iOS, but there is a minor issue regarding app permissions. Basically, if you don’t grant access to the camera or location information, it will trigger an error message. If you tap on the button on the error message, you should be redirected to your phone’s settings in order to grant the necessary permissions… except in iOS 10, that button doesn’t work properly and doesn’t redirect you there.

Fortunately, the issue is pretty minor, shouldn’t be impacting many users, and can be easily prevented by granting the necessary app permissions beforehand. Still, Nintendo will include a fix in the next update for Miitomo, though we don’t know when it will be released.
