Mega Man news (Feb. 20): Mega Man Legacy Collection 1 + 2 / Mega Man X Legacy Collections

Mega Man Legacy Collection 1 + 2

Yesterday, Capcom announced that Mega Man Legacy Collection and Mega Man Legacy Collection 2 would be released as a single compilation at retail, logically called Mega Man Legacy Collection 1 + 2. Of course, both compilations will also be available separately via the Nintendo eShop, on the same day (May 22nd in Europe and North America, and May 24th in North America).

However, there’s a catch regarding the retail release: only the first collection will be on the card, as the second one will be digital-only (there will be a download code for it in the box). That’s the case in both North America and Japan, the two regions where the retail release has been confirmed.

Here’s the pricing for all editions:

  • retail: $39.99 (includes a Mega Man 30th Anniversary cleaning cloth)
  • digital: $14.99 for the first collection, $19.99 for the second collection

Regarding Mega Man Legacy Collection 1, Capcom specifies that the exclusive Challenge Stages, unlocked via the Mega Man amiibo in the Nintendo 3DS version of the game, will also be available on Nintendo Switch.

As for Mega Man Legacy Collection 2, it includes Mega Man 7, Mega Man 8, Mega Man 9, and Mega Man 10. The last two also come with all the previously released DLC (time attack stages, bonus stages, and more).

Here’s a trailer and some screenshots (+ pictures of the retailer bonuses from Japan):

Mega Man X Legacy Collection 1 + 2

A few months ago, we learned that Capcom was bringing the Mega Man X series to modern platforms, including the Nintendo Switch. But it wasn’t clear whether each game would be released separately, or as part of a collection.

Thanks to ratings from the Australian Classification Board, we finally know: Capcom is seemingly planning to release two collections, logically called Mega Man X Legacy Collection and Mega Man X Legacy Collection 2.

No doubt Capcom will properly announce those two collections in the near future.

Mega Man X Legacy Collection 1 + 2 (Switch) will be released this Summer, worldwide. The Upcoming Games page has been updated!
